On Thursday February 19th at 10:00am, APD PACE unit officers were attempting to locate a fugitive Richard Tremaine Finch B/M 32 who is wanted on a Parole Violation warrant. Officers received information that the suspect may be staying at an east Amarillo motel. An undercover officer went to the motel in the 3200 block of I-40 East and located the room in question. As the officer was walking down the hall, the door where the suspect was to be was open and the officer could see the wanted person inside. The undercover officer called out to uniformed PACE officers the location of the suspect and they arrived and to take the male into custody. They gave commands for Finch to put his hands up in the air, but he refused. Finch became argumentative with officers and would not follow commands. The suspect began moving towards a bathroom inside the motel room still refusing officers commands. Finch was finally taken into custody and officers located a semi automatic pistol in his waistband. Officers observed several pieces of narcotic paraphernalia in the room and a search warrant was written and executed on the motel room. Officers located approximately 30 gross grams of methamphetamines along with several loaded syringes, handgun ammunition and other narcotic paraphernalia. Finch was arrested and transported to Potter County Correction Center where he was booked for the outstanding Parole Violation warrant, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by Felon within weapons free zone, Man/Del of a Controlled Substance Penalty Group 1 more that 4 grams less than 200 grams, and Possession of Narcotic Paraphernalia.
