Probation Check Leads to Two Arrests in Sullivan County

Sullivan County—Yesterday afternoon at 3:40, Indiana State Police Troopers Brent Robinson and Erik Smith assisted the Sullivan County Probation Department with a compliance review at the Edwin Carl Gossett residence at 1295 Matters Street in Paxton.

Initially, Lindsey E. Shorter denied Gossett was at the residence, but because of her demeanor, the troopers checked the residence for other person(s) and found Edwin Gossett hiding under a blanket in the bedroom. Officers also noticed several items commonly used in the manufacture of methamphetamine, along with several items of drug paraphernalia, in plain sight around the home. A Sullivan Circuit Court search warrant was sought and obtained and during the search of the home, officers found an active one pot meth lab, numerous items associated with the manufacture and use of methamphetamine, and approximately two grams of suspected methamphetamine.

Arrested: Edwin Carl Gossett, age 61, of Paxton, IN.

Charges: Manufacturing/Dealing Methamphetamine; Possession of Methamphetamine; Possession of Precursors; Dumping Controlled Waste; Maintaining a Common Nuisance; Possession of Paraphernalia; Possession of Hypodermic Needle

Arrested: Lindsey Elizabeth Shorter, age 32, of Carlisle, IN.

Charge: Visiting a Common Nuisance

Assisting were ISP Troopers Shilo Raulston, Adam Edwards, T.J. Henning, and Shayne Roman, along with the Sullivan County Prosecutor’s Office.
