INCIDENT: Homicide and Armed Robbery

The Marietta Police Department Detective Division is currently investigating an armed robbery and homicide that occurred inside of a taxi at the St. Augustine Condominiums.
On Wednesday, February 18, 2015 at approximately 1:45pm Marietta Officers responded to the QT on Franklin Road for a report of a person shot inside of a taxi cab. Upon arrival officers found the victim, 22 year old Tomas Arriola, in the passenger seat severely injured from a gunshot wound. Arriola was rushed to Kennestone Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.
The initial investigation revealed that the victim was riding with his father, Tomas Arriola Sr, when they picked up a couple of fares and drove them to the St. Augustine Condominiums on Franklin Road. One of the two suspects in the back seat brandished a handgun and attempted to rob the two victims. During the robbery one of the suspects shot Arriola and both suspects fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of money. The driver drove his son to the QT in an attempt to find help.
In light of this incident the Marietta Police Department has designated specialized patrols for the Franklin Road corridor that will operate around the clock until further notice.
