Ambulance Rollover Crash Sends Three to Hospital in Putnam County
Putnam County – This morning at around 08:30 am, ISP Trooper Michael Wood was dispatched to a vehicle crash on eastbound Interstate 70 near the 35 mile marker involving a CARE Ambulance.
The investigation revealed the ambulance was eastbound I-70 when it lost control on the icy roadway and went into the median striking an earth embankment. The ambulance then rolled over multiple times.
The driver and other medic were transported to Putnam County Hospital with minor injuries and the patient was transported to Union Hospital in Terre Haute for minor injuries.
Driver: Steven Jackson, age 40, of Clinton, Indiana
Passenger/Medic: Tom Washburn, age 33, of Toledo, Illinois
Patient: Erik Sheffler, age 21, of Terre Haute, Indiana
The crash was investigated by ISP Trooper Michael Wood, assisting were Troopers Dave Cox JR, Master Trooper Matt Ames, Cloverdale Fire Department and Putnam County Operation Life.
