The Montgomery Police Department will serve as a warming center. According to the National Weather Service, a wind chill advisory will be in effect beginning at 6 pm tonight through 12:00 pm (noon) tomorrow. Please remember to check on your elderly relatives and neighbors.

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN CHICAGO HAS ISSUED A WIND CHILL ADVISORY... WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 6 PM CST /7 PM EST/ THIS EVENING TO NOON CST /1 PM EST/ THURSDAY.
* WIND CHILL VALUES... 20 BELOW TO 30 BELOW ZERO.
* IMPACTS... FROST BITE CAN OCCUR IN A MATTER OF MINUTES ON EXPOSED SKIN. EXTENDED EXPOSURE WITHOUT PROPER CLOTHING WILL INCREASE THE RISK OF HYPOTHERMIA.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
A WIND CHILL ADVISORY MEANS THAT THE WIND WILL COMBINE WITH THE VERY COLD AIR TO GENERATE LOW WIND CHILLS. THIS WILL RESULT IN FROST BITE AND LEAD TO HYPOTHERMIA IF PRECAUTIONS ARE NOT TAKEN. IF YOU MUST VENTURE OUTDOORS... MAKE SURE YOU WEAR A HAT AND GLOVES.
