INCIDENT: Lewd Acts with Minor/ Child Endangerment

LOCATION: Multiple locations

SUSPECT(S): Mauro Hernandez, age 48 of Fontana
Adult female (victim's mother), age 49 of Fontana.

VICTIM: Confidential


SUMMARY: On February 3, 2015, sheriff's deputies of the Fontana Station were alerted by a mandated reporter of possible sexual abuse involving a teenage female. Deputies were advised that the suspect was known to the victim and her family. Fontana Station detectives immediately initiated an investigation and discovered the victim had been sexually abused on several occasions and at multiple locations.

Detectives conducted an extensive investigation and identified Mauro Hernandez, a registered sex offender, as the suspect. An arrest warrant was secured for Hernandez' arrest and detectives initiated a search for his whereabouts. Hernandez surrendered to detectives at Fontana Station on February 11th. The victims mother was interviewed and taken into custody on the same day.
In order to protect the identity of the victim in this case, Detectives are witholding the name of the victim's mother.

Hernandez was transported and booked into the West Valley Detention Center for several counts of PC 288, Sexual Abuse of a Minor, with bail was set at $1,000,000. The adult female was booked into the West Valley Detention Center for PC 273, Child Endangerment, with bail set at $100,000.
