ISP Records Audit Results In Arrest Of Former Greensburg Police Chief
Greensburg – (Update) The results of an Indiana State Police audit of Greensburg Police Department’s evidence records has led to the arrest of a former police chief.
On Tuesday February 17, 2015 around 10:00 AM, Stacey L. Chasteen 49, of Seymour turned herself into Indiana State Police Detectives Tracy Rohlfing and Pete Tressler at the Decatur County Jail.
According to ISP Investigator Tracy Rohlfing, the Decatur County Prosecutor filed one count of Theft and one count of Official Misconduct, each a Level 6 Felony, against Chasteen as a result of an extensive investigation of the Greensburg Police evidence records during her term as chief and her tenure as the department’s property officer as well.
An investigation of the Greensburg Police evidence records was requested in December of 2014 regarding missing evidence (US Currency). The ISP Laboratory conducted an audit of the property room in January 2015 and discovered several discrepancies involving evidence. Detective Rohlfing’s and Detective Tressler’s exhaustive investigation resulted in the arrest of former police chief Chasteen this morning.
Any further inquiry regarding this case should be referred to the Decatur County Prosecutor’s Office.
A person should be presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
