A music teacher from Snowline Unified School district, Michael Duffer, arrested for possession of child pornography.

SUSPECT: Michael William Duffer, 41 years of age, resident of Mentone
SUMMARY:
Michael Duffer is a music teacher employed at three different elementary schools within the Snowline Joint Unified School District in Phelan. The schools are Vista Verde Elementary, Heritage School and Wrightwood Elementary.
On Monday, February 2, 2015, at approximately 3:00 p.m., an incident occurred on the campus of Vista Verde Elementary. The principal reported Duffer was observed after hours in his classroom watching obscene matter on his computer while he was partially undressed. Law enforcement officials were immediately notifed of the incident by school officials and Duffer was subsequently placed on administrative leave by the school district. The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department's Specialized Investigations Division - Crimes against Children Detail took over the investigation. Detectives learned Duffer had been accessing child pornography from external storage devices, using the school computers as a means to view the content.
Upon further investigation, detectives located the external storage devices and computers at Duffers residence in Mentone. Data analysis confirmed several files, pictures and videos containing child pornography were discovered on these devices.
In addition to Duffer's teaching position at Snowline Joint Unifed School District in Phelan, he is also a part time employee at First United Methodist Church in Redlands.
On Thursday, February 12, 2015, Michael Duffer was arrested and booked into the Central Detention Center, with a bail amount of $25,000.00. His court date is scheduled for February 17, 2015 in San Bernardino Superior Court.
