Expired License Plate Leads to Felony Charges for Connersville Man

Connersville – A traffic stop in Connersville Wednesday evening for an expired license plate led to a local man being arrested on felony drug charges. Pendleton Trooper Bryan Rumple was driving through Connersville Wednesday evening, around 6:20 p.m., when he observed a red Ford pickup that had expired plates.

A check of the license plate revealed the plate was not only expired, it was registered to someone else and belonged on a different vehicle. Rumple stopped the pickup on Grand Avenue around 9th St. in Connersville. Connersville Police K-9 Officer Chris Scott was nearby and came to assist Rumple with the stop. Further investigation found the driver, David Allen, age 35 of Connersville, was driving while his license was suspended.

Connersville Officer Scott’s K-9 partner was walked around the outside of the vehicle, and alerted to the presence of narcotics. A subsequent search located Methamphetamine and Heroin. The driver, David Allen, age 35 of Connersville, was arrested and charged with Possession of Methamphetamine and Possession of a Narcotic, both Level 6 Felonies. He was lodged in the Fayette County Jail. A male passenger in the truck was released at the scene.
