Troopers Jail A Deputy Man After Domestic Dispute
Deputy – Indiana State Police Troopers jailed a Deputy man after a domestic dispute at his home.
On February 09, 2015 around 1:27 PM, troopers responded to a residence in Deputy after receiving a 911 call of the resident being battered. The troopers, with the assistance of Jefferson County Sheriff deputies, later located Matthew C. Denney 36 of Deputy at a residence in Scottsburg and arrested him on several charges related to domestic violence.
According to Trooper Nate Adams, he met with a female resident when he arrived at the house in Deputy. Trooper Adams observed the female to appear frightened and with visible injuries. Trooper Adams learned from the female that a verbal altercation occurred between her and Denney and progressed into a physical altercation. The victim stated that before Denney left the house, he prevented her from using the phone to call for help and continued battering her. Trooper Adams located Denney in Scottsburg later that evening and after further investigation, arrested him around 6:30 PM.
Denney was transported to the Jefferson County Jail where he was incarcerated. Denney is facing three counts of Domestic Battery, each a Level 6 Felony, two counts of Strangulation, each a Level 6 Felony, two counts of Kidnapping, each a Level 5 Felony, two counts of Criminal Confinement, each a Level 5 Felony, one count of Aggravated Battery, a Level 3 Felony, two counts of Battery, each a Class A Misdemeanor, one count of Domestic Battery, a Class A Misdemeanor and one count of Interfering with the Reporting of a Crime, a Class A Misdemeanor.
