Fugitive Christopher Lawing behind bars; faces misdemeanors and felonies in McDowell and Rutherford
Another fugitive from the law went to jail Tuesday.
McDowell and Rutherford county deputies have been looking for Christopher Dwayne Lawing, 24, of Rockhouse Road in Marion, for several months.
Detectives Lynn Greene and Jason Grindstaff of the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office received a tip Tuesday that Lawing was at the residence of a friend on Painters Gap Road in Rutherford County.
McDowell and Rutherford deputies responded to the house and located Lawing after he broke a window, jumped out of it and fled on foot. He was taken into custody a short time later, at approximately 2 p.m.
Lawing was wanted in McDowell for misdemeanor probation violation, larceny of a motor vehicle, breaking and entering a motor vehicle, injury to personal property, fleeing to elude arrest, possession of a stolen motor vehicle, speeding and driving while license revoked.
He was wanted in Rutherford County for misdemeanor larceny and also faces new charges there for fleeing to elude arrest and possession of a firearm that stem from Tuesday’s events.
