Advisory: Firearm Possibly Discarded in Rear Yards of 700 Blocks of 42nd St, 43rd St and 44th St 
Please search your yards - especially if children are present - for a firearm believed to have been discarded by a suspect.
Oakland police officers attempted to detain a man who ran while possessing a firearm earlier this evening. The man ran into yards near 42nd St and West and bounded between yards within the 700 blocks of 42nd St, 43rd St and possibly 44th Street before he was apprehended coming out of the yards at 42nd Street and West - without a firearm. A subsequent search for the firearm was unsuccessful.
Our fear is that the discarded and unattended firearm may be found and cause unintentional injury. Please search your yards for its presence and call 911 or 510-777-3211 if found. Please do not touch or move the firearm - we will expedite an officer to safely take possession of it.
