Isla Vista Woman Kidnapped and Forced to Withdraw Money

The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office is searching for two Hispanic males who allegedly kidnapped an Isla Vista resident at approximately 3:00 p.m. today, February 9, 2015 while she was walking in the 6700 block of Abrego Road.  The suspects then drove her to her bank where she was forced to go inside and withdraw an undisclosed amount of cash.  At approximately 3:25 p.m. the suspects then returned the victim to the area where she was taken and fortunately released her unharmed.  The suspects were last seen driving off in a tan, 2005 Chevrolet Tahoe.  The distraught victim managed to get the license plate of the vehicle and called 9-1-1 to report the incident.

Sheriff’s patrol deputies and detectives responded to the scene along with personnel from the California Highway Patrol and UCSB Police Department.  A Santa Barbara County Air Support Unit helicopter was brought in to assist in searching the area for the suspects and the vehicle.  They were not located.

The Sheriff’s Office is requesting the public to be on the lookout for the vehicle used in this crime.  The tan, 2005 Chevrolet Tahoe is registered out of Los Angeles County with a license plate of 6ZEM856. If you see the vehicle, do not approach it but call 9-1-1 immediately.  The suspects are described as Hispanic males one in his mid-thirties, the other in his fifties.  Anyone with information regarding this case is asked to call the Sheriff’s Anonymous Tip-Line at 805-681-4171.
