LASD DUI/CDL Compton checkpoint, February 07, 2015 results.
Compton Sheriff’s Station held its first Driving Under the Influence Checkpoint (DUI) for 2015 on Saturday, February 7 at Alondra Boulevard and Central Avenue. This highly successful operation netted four DUI arrests three of which were drivers suspected of being under the influence of illegal drugs and one arrest for alcohol intoxication and possession of methamphetamine. Additionally, 8 cars were impounded for either driving with a suspended license or no license. In addition to court mandated fees driving with a suspended license subjects your car to be impounded for up to 30 days.
Nationwide, DUI related deaths continue to plague the nation. In Compton the last two years DUI collisions were 20 in 2014 and 43 in 2013. Compton Station tries to combat the number of DUI fatalities and collisions by conducting DUI Checkpoints and periodic DUI directed patrol operations. Funding for these operations comes from the Sheriff’s Departments Risk Management Bureau who oversees all the county wide DUI operations.
