Sonoma County Sheriff's Deputies arrest suspect for two residential burglaries that occurred within hours of each other.
On Sunday, February 8, 2015 at 2:25 AM, Sonoma County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to a burglary in-progress in the 600 block of Toy Lane, in the Boyes Hot Springs area of unincorporated Sonoma. I man called 911 when he encountered an intruder inside his home.
The homeowner and his wife had just woken up to take care of their infant. A sound was heard from within the kitchen. The homeowner went into the room and saw a stranger tangled-up in the drapes of a sliding glass door. He pushed the man outside and called the Sheriff’s Office.
When the Deputies arrived he gave a complete description of the suspect.
The homeowner didn’t think the man took anything, but he did leave something behind. The homeowner gave the Deputy a cell phone dropped by the suspect. He said he found it outside playing music.
The Deputies searched the area, but did not find anyone matching the suspect’s description.
At 4:54 AM, the Deputies were dispatched to another residential burglary in-progress. This time in the 18000 block of El Nino Court, in Boyes Hot Springs, which is about a block away from Toy Lane.
The victim called 911 saying there was an unknown male in his backyard attempting to open the rear sliding glass door.
When the Deputies arrived they found an adult male standing in the backyard near a sliding glass door. They detained the man, who matched the description of the suspect from the Toy Lane burglary.
The homeowner explained that he was asleep when he heard someone trying to open the sliding glass door to his bedroom. He armed himself with a baseball bat and yelled at the suspect repeatedly that he was on the phone with the police.
The Deputies arrived before the suspect entered the house.
The suspect was identified as Toby Jordan Kiser, an 18 year old male from Sonoma.
The phone recovered from outside the scene of the Toy Lane house was indeed his.
Kiser was arrested and booked into County Jail for burglary of an inhabited dwelling and attempted burglary. His bail was set at $80,000 and he is due in court on February 10, 2015 at 1:30.
