Cause of fatal fire on John Swofford Road still under investigation

McDowell County sheriff’s deputies, along with firefighters, EMS paramedics and Emergency Management personnel, responded to a mobile home fire at 239 John Swofford Road in Nebo, shortly after midnight Saturday to find the residence engulfed in flames.
The owners, Thomas and Roemisa Ward, got out of the house unharmed but their daughter didn’t.
Amber Ward, 26, died in the blaze.
Lt. Chris Taylor of the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office said the cause of the fire is still under investigation, but it has been determined that it started in Amber’s bedroom.
