Sonoma County Sheriff's Helicopter called to Jenner Beach for a deceased person in the surf line.

On Saturday February 7, 2015 at approximately 1:50 PM, the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office Helicopter, Henry 1, was dispatched to the area of Jenner Beach to investigate a report of a possible human body in the surf.

Upon arriving on scene, the flight crew observed the deceased in the surf line and landed the aircraft on the beach. With the assistance of numerous first responders on scene, the deceased was recovered from the surf line and placed in a Stokes Litter.

Due to the lengthy, steep trail leading from Highway 1 to the beach, the Henry 1 crew made the decision to perform a long line rescue to extract the deceased from the beach.

The Henry 1 Pilot retrieved the deceased and a crew member from the beach on a 100 foot rope attached to the belly of the aircraft. The deceased was lifted on the long line to awaiting Sheriff’s Deputies on Highway 1. The body was then transported in a vehicle to the Sonoma County Coroner's Office.

The identity of the deceased is being withheld pending positive identification and notification of the next of kin.
