Pedestrian hit by train in San Luis Obispo

On February 6, 2015, at about 8:15 pm the San Luis Obispo Emergency Communications Center received a 911 call from Amtrak dispatch reporting a North bound Amtrak train had struck a pedestrian. The collision occurred about one half mile South of Orcutt Road in the City of San Luis Obispo.

San Luis Obispo City Fire and Police Departments responded and located a female pedestrian who had been struck by the train. The female was treated at the scene and transported by San Luis Ambulance to Sierra Vista where she was admitted in critical condition. The patient was later transferred to Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno for further treatment.

No passengers on the train were injured as a result of the collision. Traffic on the rails was interrupted for about an hour and a half while the incident was investigated by both the Police Department as well as railroad investigators. There is no suspicion of any wrong doing on the part of the train engineer.

The Police Department is not releasing the name of the female pedestrian at this time.
