UPDATE: North & Southbound El Monte Ave now open @ Hawthorne. Westbound Hawthorne remains closed.


The downed power line has been cleared from the roadway and S El Monte Avenue is now reopen in both directions. Westbound Hawthorne Avenue remains closed while PG&E crews work on repairs to the power lines.



A large power line was just knocked down by a fallen tree limb at the intersection of Hawthorne Avenue and S El Monte Avenue. The power line is live and all drivers are asked to avoid the area until further notice. PG&E, Police and Fire crews are onsite now.

Residents in the area will likely lose power for an unknown period of time, as PG&E will need to shut the power off in order to repair the blown transformer.
