Hebron Man Airlifted from Crash on I-65

Merrillville, Lake County-A three vehicle crash on I-65 south bound at the 253 mile marker (this is just north of the US 30 exit) caused one of the driver’s to be airlifted because of his injuries.

Preliminary investigation by Master Trooper Dan Avitia revealed that, at approximately 2:30 p.m., this Monday, February 02, 2015, a 2000 Kenworth pulling a box trailer, owned by Timon Perron Trucking out of Campbellsport, Wisconsin, and driven by Brad M. Roeder, 36 of Green Lake, Wisconsin, was stopped in the left center lane because of an earlier crash. A 2014 Mack semi pulling a dump trailer, owned by Harry Brown Trucking out of Hebron, Indiana, driven by James R. Reed, 80 of Hebron, Indiana, was also in the left center lane when he hit a 2014 Honda CRV.

The CRV was in the right center lane when the driver, Danielle Mynard, 24 of Indianapolis, Indiana, changed from the right to the left center lane in front of Reed’s semi. Reed’s semi hit the rear of the CRV, causing it spin around, hit the concrete barrier wall, and the passenger rear became lodged under the front of Reeds semi. Reed’s semi also hit Roeder’s trailer.

Reed was taken from the interstate to the parking lot of the Radisson Hotel by Prompt Ambulance where he was air lifted to Christ Advocate Hospital in Oak Lawn, Illinois, with serious injuries. Mynard was taken to South Lake Methodist Hospital in Merrillville with non-life threatening injuries. Roeder was also taken to South Lake Methodist Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Mynard also had a small poodle in her vehicle that was in a dog car seat. Her dog was not injured and was transported with her in the ambulance.

Reed’s family was notified.

There was no load lost in either trailer, Reed’s trailer was empty and Roeder’s trailer was loaded with 32,000 pounds of cheese.

The three left lanes were closed for investigation of the crash, removal of the vehicles and injured, and clean-up of the roadway. All lanes were reopened just after 5:00 p.m.

All criminal defendants are to be presumed innocent until, and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
