#LASD On-Going Effort to Combat Human Trafficking
The Sheriff’s Department, South Los Angeles Station have received numerous complaints of prostitution activity in the area of Imperial Highway and Vermont Avenue, in unincorporated Los Angeles. In their on-going effort to combat Human Trafficking from all perspectives, A “john” sting was conducted on Thursday, January 29, 2015.
A 28 member task force that included personnel from several Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department Units including, Major Crimes Bureau’s Vice, South Los Angeles Station, Court Services, Custody Division, Reserve Forces deputies, and the District Attorney’s Office, collaborated and organized an undercover operation to address the issue. From 3:00 PM, till approximately 10:00 PM several female deputies posed as prostitutes in the area and were approached by several suspects. At the conclusion of the “Sting”, 4 male adults were arrested for misdemeanor Solicitation of Prostitution, and one male adult was arrested for felony Pandering.
The Los Angels Sheriff's Department will continue to monitor and combat Human Trafficking in all areas of Los Angeles county.
