On Monday January 26th at 5:48pm, APD officers were sent to the 1100 block of Amarillo Blvd East on a stolen vehicle. The caller had reported that there was a stolen vehicle parked on the side of the building. Upon arrival officers located a stolen white F250 PU sitting next to a business. The caller relayed information that the subject that was driving the stolen PU was inside a business and identified him by name. Officers went inside and located the possible suspect and asked him to step outside and speak with them. As the officers and suspect exited the business the male took off running through the parking lot. Officers pursued him on foot, deployed a taser on the subject and he was then taken into custody. Officers located the keys to the stolen PU in his front pants pocket. Further searching of the subject revealed a white powdery substance believed to be methamphetamine. The subject was transported and booked into the Potter County Correction Center. He is identified as Trenton Scott Unruh W/M 42 of Amarillo. Unruh was charged with Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle; Possession Controlled Substance Penalty Group 1 less than 1 gram; Evading Arrest/Detention on foot; Probation Violation Warrant # 63080-00-C with original charge of Possession of Controlled Substance; Randall Co. Warrant # 22045A for Motion to Proceed/Possession of Controlled Substance over 1 gram; Randall Co Warrant # 22250A Motion to Proceed/Possession of Controlled Substance Penalty Group 1 over 1 gram less than 4 grams; and one city municipal court warrant.
