Man Arrested for Shoplifting

ACCUSED: Shaheed J. Briggs age 21 Asbury Park, NJ
NARRATIVE:
On 1/23/15 at approximately 9:39 pm Detective Michael Legg was on patrol when he observed a male acting in a suspicious manner outside the front doors of Kohl’s Department Store. An investigation revealed that the subject was an employee of Kohl’s and was waiting for a suspected shoplifter to exit the store. As the subject, later identified as Shaheed J. Briggs, exited the store he began running away and was apprehended by Detective Legg. Upon apprehension, it learned that Mr. Briggs was wearing multiple layers of stolen clothing valued at approximately $500.00.
Mr. Briggs was placed under arrest and taken to the Township of Ocean Police Headquarters for processing. Mr. Briggs was charged with shoplifting and released on a complaint summons and scheduled to appear at a future court hearing.
