State of Emergency within the Village of Monroe is hereby in effect from Monday, 01/26/15 at 2:30PM through Tuesday, January 27th at 8PM.

The Village of Monroe has declared the following:

Decleration of State of Emergency

I, James C. Purcell, Mayor of the Village of Monroe, pursuant to article 2-B, section 2-B, section 24 of The New York State Executive Law, herby certify as follows:

In conjuction with Governor Cuomo's decleration for a State of Emergency due to blizzrd conditions bringing heavy snow, high winds and road closures with the potential for power outages within the Village of Monroe. As a result of these conditions, a State of Emergency within the Village of Monroe is hereby in effect from Monday, 01/26/15 at 2:30PM through Tuesday, January 27th at 8PM.

This Declerationof a State of Emergency is a result pf the Blizzard of 2015.

Pursuant to this State of Emergency, I hereby order the following:

1. The presence of unauthorized persons in The Village of Monroe is prohibited.

2. The ingress and egress of unauthorized vehicles in The Village of Monroe is prohibited.

3. Curfew between the hours of 8PM and 6AM in the Village of Monroe.

4. Order that the Monroe Police Department, Volunteer Fire Companies, Monroe Volunteer Ambulance, Village of Monroe Department of Public Works Superintendent to take whatever steps necessary to protect life and property, public infrastructure and other such emergency assistance as deemed necessary.

During this period, all pedestrian and vehicular traffic, except essential emergency vehicles and personnel, is prohibited or restricted on the Village of Monroe.

A BLIZZARD WARNING MEANS SEVERE WINTER WEATHER CONDITIONS ARE
EXPECTED OR OCCURRING. FALLING AND BLOWING SNOW WITH STRONG WINDS AND POOR VISIBILITIES WILL LEAD TO WHITEOUT CONDITIONS...MAKINGTRAVEL EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. DO NOT TRAVEL. IF YOU MUST TRAVEL...HAVE A WINTER SURVIVAL KIT WITH YOU. IF YOU GET STRANDED...STAYWITH YOUR VEHICLE.

ALL UNNECESSARY TRAVEL IS DISCOURAGED BEGINNING MONDAY
AFTERNOON...TO ALLOW PEOPLE ALREADY ON THE ROAD TO SAFELY REACH
THEIR DESTINATIONS BEFORE THE HEAVY SNOW BEGINS...AND TO ALLOW
SNOW REMOVAL EQUIPMENT TO BEGIN TO CLEAR ROADS.
