Declaration of Snow Emergency

Gennaro J. Faiella, Interim Village Manager of the Village/Town of Mount Kisco, pursuant to Section 101-8 of the Code of the Village/Town of Mount Kisco does hereby declare that a Snow Emergency is in effect beginning 3:00 PM Monday, January 26 and will remain in effect until further notice. In accordance with this declaration, the Village does hereby establish the following emergency parking and traffic rules and regulations and suspends promulgated rules and regulations insofar as they are inconsistent herewith:


• No parking on any street or public roadway from 3:00 PM Monday January 26 until further notice. VIOLATORS WILL BE TICKETED OR TOWED at the owners expense.
• No person shall throw or deposit snow upon any plowed portion of any street or roadway. Homeowners are responsible for the actions of private contractors in their employ. This regulation shall not be inconsistent with Section 1219 of the New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law.
• FREE Parking is available in all municipal parking lots during the snow emergency event.

Fox Senior Center located at 198 Carpenter Avenue

ALL vehicles must be removed from all lots by 12:00 (noon) on Wednesday, January 28th to facilitate the safe snow removal of snow from these parking areas.


• RECYCLING & GARBAGE COLLECTION:
Recycling has been canceled this week. The normal collection scheduled will resume the week of February 2.

Garbage WILL be collected on Thursday and Friday provided there is a clear pathway to your garbage cans. If you do not shovel a path, your garbage will only be collected if it is brought curbside for collection.


• Fire Hydrants.
If you have one near your property please assist the Village with clearing of snow from around it. Thank you!


• The Memorial Complex is closed for today, Monday, January 26th and Tuesday, January 27th all programs have been canceled.
Some General Safety Recommendations:
• Flat Roofs: Should be cleared off safely to avoid excessive snow build up.
• Avoid all unnecessary automobile trips: It is recommended that residents avoid all unnecessary driving all day Tuesday and remain indoors. There are predictions for sustained winds of up to 20 – 30 MPH with gusts reaching up to 40 MPH beginning 8:00 AM Tuesday, continuing until 8:00 PM Tuesday.
• Power outages: Should be reported to Con Edison directly at 1 800-75ConEd. In the event you have lost power and heat, the American Legion post at will be open to serve as a warming station. You can call reach them at 241-0136
