Traffic Stop Leads To Arrest Of Two Kentucky Men For Fraud

Seymour – A traffic stop along I-65 in Seymour lead to the arrest of two Kentucky men for fraud.

On January 22, 2015 around 2:00 PM, Indiana State Police Trooper James Wells observed the driver of a blue 2005 Mercedes make an unsafe lane change as it followed too closely behind another motorist while traveling south on I-65 near the 49 mm. Trooper Wells stopped the vehicle. While speaking with the driver, Trooper Wells developed probable cause of a crime being committed. The driver granted Trooper Wells permission to search the car. During the search, Trooper Wells located over 170 credit cards. With the assistance of the United States Secret Service, these cards were determined to have stolen credit card numbers on them. Both men were placed under arrest at that time.

Arrested at the scene were Rene Perez 29 and Brian Diaz 24, both of Louisville, Kentucky. Each were charged with one count of Fraud, a Level 6 Felony and transported to the Jackson County Jail. This investigation is continuing with the assistance of the Secret Service. More charges may be forth-coming.
