On Friday evening, January 23, 2015 at about 8:10 pm, the West Covina Police Department responded to a Hit and Run Injury Traffic Collision that occurred on Francisquito Avenue west of California Avenue. An adult male in his 50’s was pushing a bicycle on Francisquito when he crossed mid-block into traffic walking northbound when he was struck by a light colored Jeep Grand Cherokee. The Jeep was traveling westbound Francisquito in the #1 (left) lane. After the collision, the suspect vehicle fled the area westbound on Francisquito and turned left into the driveway next to "DD’s Discounts" located at 1200 West Francisquito Avenue. The Jeep drove west through the parking lot and turned left onto Sunset and out of sight. The front end of the suspect vehicle (driver side) appears to have sustained damage in the impact. A photograph of the Jeep was obtained from a nearby security camera in the shopping center.
The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital for his injuries and his present condition remains unknown.
