Update to Incident Within The 4100 Block of West St: Incident Safely Resolved
At about 2am this morning, Oakland police officers responded to a residence within the 4100 block of West Street on a report from an occupant that they had been violently assaulted within the residence and held against their will. Responding officers found indication that the suspect was inside and had threatened violence if officers were to intervene. In order to resolve the incident with additional tools, personnel and skills necessary to resolve the incident as safely as possible for all involved, additional officers from the Department's Special Operations Division were called to the scene.
At about 9am officers safely apprehended the suspect without injury to anyone involved.
It was necessary to block traffic and restrict access to the scene for public safety reasons. Proximate residents were advised, warned and asked to take safety precautions where and when warranted. We appreciatte the assistance received.
