Police Seek Community Help in Unsolved Homicides

On January 20, 2015 the Oakland Police Department held a press conference at 100th Avenue and Longfellow Avenue, requesting assistance from the media and the community in helping to solve a 2014 homicide case. Criminal Investigations Division Lieutenant Roland Holmgren and Homicide Investigator Leo Sanchez were joined by family members of the victims, Lamar Broussard and Derryck Eugene Harris, both 19, who were shot and killed at 2:15 PM, January 19, 2014, at 100th Avenue and Longfellow Avenue.

Investigators also discussed the homicide that occurred on December 31, 2013, when Broussard’s brother, Lee Weathersby III, 13, was shot in the 1400 block of 104th Avenue at 9:26 PM. Weathersby died January 1, 2014.

Investigators have provided a photos of the victims and are requesting help from anyone who may have:
 --Seen victims Broussard and Harris in the area of 100th Avenue and Longfellow Avenue on the day of the shooting (January 19, 2014) prior to 2:15 PM
 --Seen victim Weathersby III in the 1400 block of 104th Avenue on the evening of the shooting (December 31, 2013) prior to 9:26 PM
 --Witnessed the shootings
 --Seen suspect(s) fleeing the scene after the shooting.
