Police Investigate Homicide
Jackson police are investigating the homicide of James Roberson, 25, of Jackson.
Around 9:15 a.m. Tuesday, police were called about a shooting. When officers arrived, they discovered Roberson’s body lying on the ground beside a parked car at 12 Woodberry Trail.
Based on the preliminary investigation thus far, police have determined that Roberson was picking up a friend at 12 Woodberry Trail. As Roberson and the friend were sitting in a car, the suspect pulled onto Woodberry Trail, parked and got out of a car. The suspect then approached Roberson’s car and fired multiple times, striking the car. Roberson’s passenger was able to get out of the car, uninjured. As Roberson was attempting to get out, he was shot by the suspect.
The suspect, who acted alone, was described as a slender black male dressed in dark clothing and wearing a mask.
The Jackson Police Department has an overt camera on Old Hickory Boulevard. This camera captured the suspect’s vehicle as it traveled east on Old Hickory immediately before and after the shooting.
Through use of the camera and eye witnesses, the suspect’s vehicle was described as a white, four-door Nissan Altima with a sunroof, tinted windows and a temporary tag.
