Three Injured in Three Vehicle Crash

Sullivan County—This afternoon at 2:01, Indiana State Police and Sullivan County emergency agencies responded to a three vehicle crash in the northbound lanes of US 41 at Main Street in Farmersburg.

Preliminary investigation revealed a northbound tractor-trailer, driven by 65-year-old Robert Crenshaw of Gary, Indiana, applied the brakes in an attempt to stop and skidded approximately 242 before striking a red GMC Acadia, driven by 80-year-old Robert Eble of Sullivan, Indiana and a black Chevrolet HHR, driven by 57-year-old Celia F. Davis of Farmersburg, Indiana in the rear. Occupants were extricated by members of the Thunderbird Fire Rescue and Shelburn Fire Rescue Departments. The patients were then transported to Terre Haute Regional Hospital by Sullivan County EMS and Trans Care EMS.

Robert I. Eble was treated for head and internal pain, his wife and passenger, Sandra Eble, age 75, was treated for back and internal pain. Celia Davis was treated for head, neck, and internal pain.

Robert Crenshaw was cited for disregarding an automatic signal and released. Alcohol and or drugs were not a factor in the crash. Crenshaw was driving a red 2005 Freightliner tractor pulling an empty box trailer and under authority of Cowboy Trucking of Tinley Park, Illinois.

A commercial vehicle inspection of the tractor-trailer was conducted by ISP Commercial Vehicle Enforcement troopers Matt Ames and Byron Goodman. The tractor-trailer breaking system was found to be partially inadequate, so the combination was placed out of service and impounded.

The crash was investigated by ISP Trooper Brent Robinson. Assisting were ISP Sergeant Tom Hannon and troopers Polly Blackburn and Tom Hanks and Sullivan County Sheriff’s Deputy Jason Bobbitt.

Under the Law, criminal charges are merely accusations and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
