On Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at 10:45 am, a small fire was discovered in a 1st floor restroom at McKinley School. For the safety of the students and staff, the school was immediately evacuated.
After consultation with the New Brunswick Fire Department, it was decided to move all students and staff to 40 Van Dyke Avenue (The former Redshaw School) for the remainder of the school day. Dismissal will be at the normal time. All afterschool programs for McKinley School are cancelled.
The damage to the restroom was minimal and there were no reported injuries. McKinley School will re-open on Wednesday, January 21, 2015 on a regular schedule.
