Indianapolis, IN- Indiana State Police officers are working a double fatality crash that occurred early yesterday morning on the Westside of Indianapolis.

Early yesterday morning at approximately 5:59 a.m., Indiana State troopers were dispatched to a single vehicle crash on I-465 NB at the 11.6 mm. (Washington Street)

Preliminary investigation revealed that a female driver and her female front seat passenger were operating a 1998 Oldsmobile NB on I-465 at the 11.6 mm. For reasons unknown at this time, the vehicle went off the right side of the roadway and struck a guard rail end cap with the driver’s side of the car. The vehicle then spun across the ramp from EB Washington Street to NB I-465 and struck a second end cap of a guard rail. Both occupants of the vehicle were ejected.  The vehicle continued, unoccupied, sliding along the guardrail and came to rest against the concrete bridge railing over Washington Street.

Both occupants of the vehicle were pronounced deceased at the scene. The Marion County Coroner’s Office has identified the females as Lorenda Sue Wampler, 49, of Indianapolis and Jonie Faye Johnson-Milan, 46, of Indianapolis.  Which female was driving at the time of the crash is still under investigation.
