Miami County – This morning, a traffic stop by Indiana State Trooper Chuck Meyer led to the arrest of Kenneth Long, 18, Bristol, IN. Long was incarcerated in the Miami County Jail to face criminal charges for possession of marijuana, dealing a schedule IV narcotic, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Today at approximately 10:50 a.m., Meyer initiated a traffic stop on a 1999 Chevrolet Malibu which was allegedly traveling southbound on U.S. 31, near Miami County Road 1350 North, at 80 miles per hour in a posted 60 miles per hour zone. While speaking with the Chevrolet’s driver, identified as Long, Meyer smelled the odor of burnt marijuana emitting from the vehicle.
During a subsequent search of the Malibu, officers allegedly found a glass jar containing 244 Xanax pills, a misdemeanor amount of marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and an AK-47 rifle with 37 bullets. Officers also purportedly found $1,978 in United States currency and a Halloween type mask.
Trooper Meyer was assisted during the traffic stop by officers from the Miami County Sheriff’s Office and conservation officers from the Indiana Department of Natural Resources.
