911 Caller Reports Drunk Driver
Vigo County—This morning at 2:25, Vigo County Central Dispatch received a 911 call reporting a possible impaired driver westbound on Wabash Avenue near 6th Street. The impaired driver reportedly was very erratic and nearly struck several parked vehicles. Trooper David Petrowski spotted the vehicle southbound on US 41 (3rd Street) from Wabash Avenue. The 2004 Chevrolet Impala continued southbound in an erratic manner. Trooper Petrowski stopped the vehicle and was immediately assisted by Trooper Jonathan Cumbie. Troopers noticed the driver displayed classic signs of intoxication and later failed on scene field sobriety tests. The driver, James York, age 22, of Terre Haute, Indiana was transported to the Vigo County Jail where he tested .269% BAC. York was incarcerated for Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated (misdemeanor).
The arrest was completed by Trooper Jonathan Cumbie. Assisting were Troopers David Petrowski, Brian Thomas, and Probationary Trooper Nicole Cheeks.
Indiana State Police encourages the motoring public to report possible impaired drivers by dialing 911.

Under the Law, criminal charges are merely accusations and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
