Pedestrian Struck at Fairgrounds
Pedestrian Struck at Fairgrounds
Indianapolis, IN- A Greenwood man is recovering at Methodist Hospital this afternoon after being struck by a vehicle at the Indiana State Fairgrounds.
Late this morning at approximately 10:42 a.m., Indiana State Trooper Matt Beaver was dispatched to the Indiana State Fairgrounds to the report of a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle.
Preliminary investigation revealed that two black males were observed by a security officer breaking into a Ford pickup parked on the west side of fairground property. The two males fled the scene in a mini-van when the security guard approached them. The security guard dispatched the vehicle description and direction of travel to other security guards on the grounds.
Brian Daley, 43, of Greenwood, working for the security detail U.S Security Associates, observed the vehicle exiting the fairgrounds from gate 6 onto Fall Creek Parkway. Daley was struck as he stepped off of the curb at Gate 6 and the mini-van continued south bound on Fall Creek Parkway without stopping.
Daley was transported to Methodist Hospital with a possible broken left arm.
The vehicle is described by witnesses as a possible two tone brown or green, Pontiac or Oldsmobile mini-van with a paper license plate and occupied by two black males. Anyone with information regarding this hit and run crash is encouraged to contact Trooper Matt Beaver at the Indianapolis State Police Post at (317) 899-8577.
