Deputies received a call for help shortly after noon about shots being fired at a home in the 1500 block of Quincy Canyon Road on the Barona Indian Reservation. Barona Tribal Enforcement requested the assistance of Sheriff's Deputies after receiving reports of a woman with a shot gun.
Deputies from the Santee Sheriff's Station, as well as members of the Sheriff's Special Enforcement Detail (SED/SWAT) and the Crisis Negotiation Team (CNT) responded. The woman was detained without incident just after 1:30 p.m.
Sheriff's SED/SWAT deputies checked the house and confirmed at least one fatality.
Barona Charter School was briefly put on lockdown during the incident, but has since reopened.
San Vicente Road remains closed. Please avoid the area if you can.

A SWAT Standoff is underway in the 1500 block of Quincy Canyon Road on the Barona Indian Reservation. You might also hear or see a Sheriff's Helicopter overhead.
A command post has been set up at 1095 Wildcat Canyon Road. There will be a road closure at San Vicente Road.
Expect heavy traffic in the area and please avoid the area if you can.
