Terrorist Threat Arrest
(Etowah County, Alabama) A Boaz woman has been arrested for making a terrorist threat toward an Etowah County school, according to Sheriff Todd Entrekin.
“Barbara Beth Bowen, 39, of Boaz, is charged with one count of terrorist threat, which is a felony,” investigator Tyler St. Clair said.
Bowen allegedly made a threatening statement toward a local school and faculty member. The incident occurred on Thursday, January 15, when Bowen posted the statement to a social media site. She admitted to investigators last night that she was the individual who made and posted the statement.
“These incidents are taken very seriously in this day and time. Throughout the country there have been many school and workplace crimes of violence. This case should serve as an example to others that, that it is no joking matter and it will not be tolerated,” stated Sheriff Entrekin.
Chief Deputy Michael Barton said, “Deputy Glenn Cline, the school resource officer assigned to this school, was made aware of this threatening situation and within a matter of hours the threat was dissolved. The quick response to this issue is a great example of the benefit that is shared between our school resource officer program and the Etowah County Board of Education.”
Bowen is currently being detained in the Etowah County Detention Center on $2,500 property bond.
