A Traffic Stop in Chino Hills Leads to the Discovery of 5 Stolen Credit Cards

Date/Time Occurred: Wednesday, January 14, 2015
Crime or Incident: PC496(A)-Possession of stolen property.

Suspect(s): Wright, Joel, age 39

SUMMARY:

On Wednesday, January 14, 2015, at approximately 2:30 AM, deputies from the Chino Hills Police Department observed a White Ford F150 driving through the area of Winged Foot Way and Pipeline Avenue. Deputies conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle for faulty license plate lamps.

Upon contact with the driver, Joel Wright, deputies discovered he was on Felony Probation out of Riverside County for possession of a controlled substance. A probationary search of his vehicle was conducted and approximately 5 credit cards with a female's name were located. The female was contacted and confirmed her vehicle had been burglarized the previous night in the city of Corona. The victim had already made a report with Corona PD. The victim stated her credit card was used at a gas station and the video surveillance depicted a black male adult driving a white Ford F150 truck as the suspect.

Additional items commonly used to break into vehicles were also located in the suspects’ truck. Corona PD was contacted and agreed to take custody of the suspect for the burglary and fraudulent use of the victim’s credit card.
