LA County Lifeguards and MB Fire Department treat adult swimmer at Mira Costa High School

At approximately 7:00 a.m. this morning at Mira Costa High School,  LA County Lifeguards were using the pool for annual certification of their personnel.  An adult swimmer, who is not a student or staff member was noticed to be in distress and having difficulty.  LA County Lifeguards pulled the adult swimmer from the pool and began lifesaving measures.  MB Fire and Paramedics also responded to treat the swimmer, who was transported to Little Company of Mary Hospital.  Although attended by hospital staff, the swimmer passed away.  The cause has not been determined and no name will be released until family notifications have been properly made.

This message has been sent on behalf of the Manhattan Beach Fire Department.  In addition, the LA County Lifeguards will be distributing a press release with further information.
