This is the San Diego County Sheriff's Department with a safety message on Tuesday, January 13th.

If you live in the East County, be aware that a Sexually Violent Predator now lives in your community.

GARY GENE SNAVELY was released from a state mental hospital on Monday, January 12th. He now lives at 45612 Old Highway 80. This address falls within the jurisdiction of the Boulevard and Jacumba Sheriff's Office.

Snavely served several years in prison for molesting young girls between the ages of eight and 12 years old in the 80s.

Sheriff's Deputies went door to door in Jacumba Hot Springs on Wednesday, January 7th to notify the community about Snavely's placement.

For an undetermined amount of time, Snavely will be required to wear a GPS anklet and will be monitored by Liberty Health Care (LHC).

Snavely is not wanted by the Sheriff's Department at this time.
