Chemical Endangerment Arrest
(Etowah County, Alabama) A Gadsden woman has been arrested for chemical endangerment of twins, according to Sheriff Todd Entrekin.
“Courtney Starr Hyfield-Parker, 26, of Gadsden, is charged with two counts of chemical endangerment of exposing a child to an environment in which controlled substances are ingested, produced or distributed, which is a felony,” investigator Bobby Bryant said.
Parker tested positive for opiates. One infant was stillborn, the other was been transported to a Birmingham hospital.
Bond is set at $30,000. Parker will be supervised by Etowah County Community Corrections and must give a negative drug test before being released from the Etowah County Detention Center. She also is restricted from having unsupervised contact with any child under the age of 18, per a judge’s order.
The case is also being worked by the Etowah County Department of Human Resources.
