Semi Roll Over Closes I-65 South Bound Traffic

Crown Point, Lake County-A semi roll over closed all lanes of I-65 south bound traffic this morning when it lost 5 steel coils on the road.

Preliminary investigation by Sergeant Lee Wright revealed that at approximately 7:50 a.m., this Monday, January 12, 2015, morning a 1999 Ford Explorer, driven by Emily Clouse, 22 of Lowell was entering I-65 northbound from the Crown Point entrance ramp (247 mile marker) when she lost control. The Explorer spun out into the left lane where it hit a 2010 Freightliner pulling a flat bed loaded with five steel coils. The semi, owned by Joshua Transportation Company out of Bush Prairie, was loaded with 5 steel coils, each weighing 9,000 pounds (total weight 45,000 pounds), was being driven by Vladislav Dudko, 42 of Vancouver, Washington, then jackknifed.

The semi went off the roadway, through the median, broke through the guard rail (on west side of road), flipping upside down blocking all southbound traffic on I-65. The semi lost its load of coils on the roadway. Dudko who was wearing his seat belt was not injured.

Clouse was not injured and was cited for Unsafe Lane Movement and No Insurance.

Traffic was routed off at 109th to Broadway and back to I-65 via U.S. 231. All lanes were reopened at 11:00 a.m. Lanes were closed for investigation of the crash, removal of the vehicles and coils, and cleanup of the roadway.
