Wisconsin Adult School Crossing Guard Recognition Week
The Green Bay Police Department will join in the statewide Wisconsin Adult School Crossing Guard Recognition Week announced by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction to be held January 12-16, 2015. This recognition event was developed through a collaborative partnership of agencies and organizations representing state, county, and local levels.
Since approximately 1965, the Green Bay Police Department has administered an Adult School Crossing Guard program. The Green Bay Police Department is proud of its 41 regular and 15 relief Adult School Crossing Guards and would like to pay tribute to all of them during this week. All of the Adult School Crossing Guards are dedicated to our community and to your children by providing safe passage to and from school. Often times, these Crossing Guards perform their duties in less-than-ideal weather conditions, but they continue to faithfully attend to their assignments on a daily basis.
This year, as has been done in the past, we would like to recognize two of our Adult School Crossing Guards who have dedicated many years of service to the Green Bay community. Irene Stock, whose current corner assignment is S. Fisk St. and Ninth St., reached her 20th year of employment as a crossing guard with the City of Green Bay this school year. Last school year, even with the brutal winter weather, Irene did not take a day off from her crossing guard duties. “Stanley” Malcore assigned to Bellevue St. and Deckner Ave. will reach his 9th year of employment as crossing guard this year. Last school year, Stan only took two days off all school year. The two days were to attend the Honor Flight to Washington D.C. to recognize his service in World War II. Please join us in extending our congratulations and appreciation to Irene Stock and Stanley Malcore. Their dedication and service as Adult School Crossing Guards are a valuable contribution to the Green Bay Police Department and to the Green Bay community.
The Green Bay Police Department would like to thank Irene Stock and Stanley Malcore, as well as all of our Adult School Crossing Guards, for the special work that they do protecting the children of Green Bay. We encourage the citizens of Green Bay to join us in making the week of January 12-16, 2015 a very special one for Adult School Crossing Guards throughout Wisconsin.
