On Sunday, January 11th at approximately 2:26 A.M., a GBPD officer observed a 25 year old male urinating downtown in a parking lot off Washington St. The officer attempted to make contact with the male who ran from the officer. The male started to run across the ice of the Fox river. The officer stopped chasing him at this point. The male made it to the pylons of the Walnut St bridge. He stopped there. At that time he was standing in approximately 6" of water. Officer attempted to talk the male off the ice. He refused and was saying he would not cooperate with officers. GBPD officers teamed up with Green Bay Fire Department Water/Ice rescue and went out on the ice to retrieve the male. The male was tazed due to his non compliance and taken into custody. He was on the ice for approximately 30 minutes. The male was transported via rescue for medical clearance at a local hospital. He was then transported to Brown County Jail where he was charged with Disorderly Conduct and Resisting an Officer. He was also issued a municipal citation for Depositing of Human Waste.
