Trooper Waltz Assigned to the State Police Post in Indianapolis
Indianapolis – A new trooper reported recently for his first day of work at the Indianapolis Post. Trooper Christopher Waltz graduated from the Indiana State Police Academy on December 23rd as part of the Indiana State Police 74th Recruit Class. His graduation was the culmination of 23 weeks of intense training and hard work.
Trooper Waltz received 929 hours of training that included criminal and traffic law, crash investigations, emergency vehicle operations, defensive tactics, firearms, and a host of other subjects related to modern policing.
The next step for Trooper Waltz will be working with a series of experienced Field Training Officers over the next three months. The purpose of the field training is to put to practical application the training received over the past six months.
Upon successful completion of the field training program, Waltz will be issued his state police patrol vehicle and will begin solo patrol in the Indianapolis District, Marion County.
Trooper Waltz is a Marion County native and a 2005 graduate of Southport High School. He attended Ivy Tech and was a deputy with the Marion County Sheriff’s Department for four years prior to his employment with the State Police.
