IT'S A NEW YEAR - TAKE THE L.E.A.D.!

Law Enforcement Appreciation Day

On January 9th, 2015, the Voorhees Police Department and partnering organizations in support of law enforcement officers nationwide will promote a National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day (L.E.A.D.).

Voorhees Police Department representatives will attend a rally on Friday, January 9, 2015 at 2:00PM at The Performing Arts Center, Neptune Township High School (Exit 100 on the Garden State Parkway).

If you appreciate and respect the people who have chosen policing as their vocation and you are discouraged about the negative attention they are receiving, then we encourage you to take some time on Friday, January 9, 2015 at 2:00PM to show your support. If possible, please plan on attending the rally.

If you are unable to attend the rally, please show your support by doing some or all of the following:
• Change your profile picture on social media to a pro-police picture
• Share a positive story on social media about a law enforcement experience you’ve had
• Wear blue clothing in support of law enforcement
• Participate in “Project Blue Light” and proudly display your blue light in your home and/or workplace
• Say “Thank You!” to a police officer

On average, 150 officers die in the line of duty each year in our country; 57,000 officers are assaulted in the line of duty each year and even more disturbing, over 300 officers commit suicide each year. There is no other profession in the world, except possibly the military, where you will find these kinds of statistics.

I am asking that you remember the nobility of the people who choose to serve and put themselves in harm’s way so others can live free and peacefully. This nobility applies to every officer, current and retired, so please show your support!
