Wanted Parolee Surrenders to APD K-9 “Aero”

On Tuesday, January 6, 2015 at about 10:04 AM an Anderson Police Officer was in the area of the Anderson Motel 6 business, when he observed a male subject, who the officer recognized as 43 year old resident, Jason Eric CRAFT. CRAFT was seen as a passenger in a vehicle and was known to have active Felony Warrant for a violation of his Parole. CRAFT is currently on Parole for Kidnapping and Assault with a Firearm.

The Anderson Police Officer knew of CRAFT’s violent criminal history and had received recent information advising that CRAFT would fight with Law Enforcement if they attempted to apprehend him.

The Anderson Police Officer conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle in the 3100 block of Marmac Road. Upon contact with CRAFT, CRAFT became argumentative and refused to follow the officer’s commands. The officer requested additional officers to assist in taking CRAFT into custody.

Two additional Anderson Police Officers responded to the scene including Police K-9 “Aero”. CRAFT was advised that if he did not comply with the officers’ orders he would be bit by K-9 “Aero”. CRAFT quickly became compliant and was taken into custody without further incident.

CRAFT is currently in custody at the Shasta County Jail where he is being held on a “No Bail” Warrant.

CRAFT advised the arresting officer that if it had not been for the presence of the Police K-9, he would have violently resisted the officers attempts to take him into custody.
