I-65 South Bound at Jasper/White County Line is Closed Due to Numerous Crashes UPDATE-UPDATE
Jasper/White County Line-All traffic south bound is closed at the Jasper/White County Line on I-65 due to numerous crashes in that area. All traffic is being diverted off at the 201 mile marker (Remington/Wolcott exit). The interstate in that area is iced over. Please avoid this area if you are traveling south. It is unknown at this time how long it will be closed.
The south bound lanes on I-65 at the Jasper/White County Line on I-65 are still closed. The reason for the extended delay is that one of the semi’s involved lost its load of cement siding boards; which are affected by the cold temperatures. This has caused the boards to become breakable and brittle when handled. We anticipate having one lane open in the next hour.
THE LEFT LANE IS OPEN. The right lane is still closed for clean-up.
ALL LANES SOUTHBOUND ARE NOW OPEN! Please use CAUTION in the area as the road conditions are deterierating as the cold and wind sets in!
Motorists can expect slowed or stopped traffic through the area and are asked to use caution as the roadway is iced over.
