Troopers at Fort Wayne Post Reach Career Milestones
(Fort Wayne, IN)-Three Troopers assigned to the Indiana State Police Post in Fort Wayne have recently achieved longevity milestones in their service to the Department and to the citizens of Indiana.
• Sergeant Mark R. Heffelfinger of DeKalb County was recognized for 30 years of service. Heffelfinger was appointed as a Trooper on November 18, 1984 as a graduate of the 42nd Indiana State Police Recruit Academy. During his career, Heffelfinger has served the Department as a member of the Tactical Intervention Platoon, Emergency Response Team, as an Explosive Ordnance Disposal Technician and as a Hostage Negotiator. As a Detective, he was a member of the Federal Bank Robbery Task Force and has been awarded the Indiana State Police Meritorious Service Award. Heffelfinger currently serves as a Crime Scene Investigator.
• Lieutenant Anthony C. Casto of Wells County was recognized for 20 years of service. Casto was appointed as a Trooper on December 4, 1994 as a graduate of the 51st Indiana State Police Recruit Academy. During his career, Casto has served the Department as a Dive master with the SCUBA team, a member of the Tactical Intervention Platoon, a K-9 handler assigned to interdiction duties, a temporary duty assignment as an investigator with the Criminal Investigation Division, a member of the Motorcycle Patrol Unit, and as a Squad Sergeant overseeing the District K-9 teams, as well as the Troopers in both Blackford and Jay Counties. Casto currently serves as the Fort Wayne District Commander.
• Sergeant Aaron W. Cook of Whitley County was recognized for 20 years of service. Cook was appointed as a Trooper on December 4, 1994 as a graduate of the 51st Indiana State Police Recruit Academy. During his career, Cook has served the Department as a member of the District Criminal Interdiction Team, a Field Training Officer, as a member of the Tactical Intervention Platoon and in 2004 he distinguished himself with a life saving effort and was awarded the Silver Star, the second highest honor that the Indiana State Police can bestow upon a Trooper. Cook currently serves as a Squad Sergeant and is the immediate supervisor to Troopers in both Whitley and Huntington Counties.
